Anguilla is situated in the Caribbean Sea, east of Puerto Rico, between the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean. It is a flat, low-lying island of coral and limestone. Apart from being the main island, the territory of Anguilla includes a number of other smaller islands and cays, the majority of which are uninhabited. The climate of the country is tropical, moderated by northeast trade winds. It is characterized by frequent hurricanes and other tropical storms, taking place from July to October. It is the hottest period, while from December to February – the coolest.
